PEMA expands, welcomes raft of new members Print E-mail

The Port Equipment Manufacturers´ Association (PEMA) is pleased to announce the expansion of its membership with the addition of four specialist manufacturing and consulting companies from Europe and the United States.

"PEMA´s work supporting the ports sector will be boosted with our new members - all of whom represent key interests in the port equipment industry," says Ottonel Popesco, PEMA President.

Testing Time For Cable Industry Print E-mail

The British Approvals Service for Cables is stepping up its scrutiny and testing of cables on the market in the UK, with the active support of the British Cables Association (BCA).
BASEC purchases a range of products from the open market to check conformity.  End users also approach BASEC when they experience problems with cable they have purchased.  On testing, many of these are found not to comply with British Standards, and some could be considered as dangerous.

Firesafe TW950 cable has been used extensively throughout Centre Court at Wimbledon Print E-mail

centre_court_wimbledonTratos Ltd., the UK distribution subsidiary of electrical cable manufacturer Tratos Cavi Spa. of Italy, is pleased to announce its Firesafe TW950 cable has been used extensively throughout Centre Court at Wimbledon as part of the voice evacuation and fire alarm system. wimbledonWimbledon´s famous Central Court has recently been refurbished and fitted with a new retractable roof which has been much publicised. As part of that extensive refurbishment, 20,000m of Tratos´ Firesafe TW950 fire resistant cable has been installed, from 2 to 27 core in size. The cable was selected for this installation because of its off the shelf availability and the attractive price point. Firesafe TW950 is a 300volt/500volt cable operating across a temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. LPC and BASEC approved, it has been designed to meet the latest standards for fire detection and alarm systems in BS5839 Part 1 standard grade and for use in emergency lighting BS5266 Part 1 and is manufactured and tested to BS7629.

Tratos produce 18km continuous length of subsea fibre Print E-mail

adriatic_lng_terminal.jpgTRATOS recently supplied a 24 Optical Fibres cable suitable for subsea installation up to 200 meters in depth for the ADRIATIC LNG Terminal which required a continuous length of 18km.

The Adriatic LNG terminal is a liquid natural gas offshore terminal nine miles offshore near Rovigo, Italy in the northern Adriatic. It is the world's first offshore LNG terminal. When the terminal becomes fully operational, it is expected to store and regasify 21.8 million cubic meters (770 million cubic feet) per day, enough to meet 10% of Italy’s natural gas needs.
