Modular Wiring Systems Proves A Hit For New Private Hospital In Edinburgh |
Modular Wiring Systems, a subsidiary of electrical cable manufacturer Tratos Ltd., has designed, manufactured and supplied a modular distribution system for the new Spire Shawfair Park Hospital in Edinburgh. A private hospital due to open in Spring 2010, Spire Shawfair Park comprises a two storey private day-surgery hospital totalling 4,000m2. This state of the art facility will accommodate consulting rooms, in-patient rooms, day-care pods, an operating theatre department, as well as a host of support services. It is owned by Spire Healthcare, the second largest provider of private healthcare in the UK with 36 private hospitals nationwide. The LV distribution systems manufactured by Modular Wiring Systems feature a 32 amp circuit with high integrity earth. As part of the hospital’s specification, both ring and radial circuits were utilised. “We also had problems on site with the circuit charts, services drawings and the architect’s layouts – they didn’t tie in. They were conflicting with each other. Again, using a modular system helped overcome this as we didn’t need home runs etc - we just dropped it in.”
