TRATOS FUNDS CREATION OF WEBSITE FOR 300 YEAR OLD LETTERS Print

archivio-diaristico-nazionaleTratos has funded the creation of a website for Archive Diari (National Archives of Diaries), a museum based near the company’s headquarters in the beautiful city of Pieve Santo Stefano, Tuscany, Italy.

Created by the journalist and writer Saverio Tutino, Archive Diari consists of a huge variety of manuscripts and memorabilia which are on display within the rooms of a 16th century palace. The collection includes over 6,500 exhibits, including notebooks from soldiers in the trenches, love letters and secret diaries written by children and teenagers. One of the more fascinating items in the collection is a diary called ‘The Sheet’, in which the peasant Clelia Marchi documents the history of her life after the death of her beloved husband Anteo, writing in felt tip pen on the bedsheets they had shared.

Albano Bragagni, Tratos President, commented, “Archive Diari attracts visitors from all over the world and has become an example of how the memories of the past can be kept alive. This is especially important to the 3,300 inhabitants of Pieve Santo Stefano, as the city was almost entirely destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. We are delighted to be able to provide funding for important local causes such as Archive Diari and to help publicise the numerous attractions of the city in order to encourage visitors to come and see what they are missing.”

The purchase of the website for Archive Diari is the most recent contribution by Tratos and is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local arts. Other recent initiatives have included producing a colour booklet to publicise the local regions in Tuscany and providing sponsorship for prizes as an incentive for students in local high schools.
